Tile ArtTile Art

Art is very subjective but unusual and eye-catching pieces will always have a place. Tile art is a marvelous way to bring art to a public area, federal or community building, or a residential setting. Tile art has many applications.

Beauty with Longevity

Thanks to our custom-built, computer-controlled kiln-fired process which bakes the digitally transferred images directly onto the tile at extremely high temperatures, (1650 °F, 900 °C), our tile murals are:

  • Resistant to cracking and peelingsacred art murals

  • Weather resistant, even to extreme temperature fluctuations

  • Resistant to scratching

  • Resistant to chemical damage

  • Resistant to fading for their lifetime

  • Resistant to graffiti (which can be easily removed)

As well as being durable, hard wearing, and long-lasting, the process we use at Tile Artisans to produce our specialty tiles is superior to many other processes. Unlike methods such as dye sublimation used by other custom tile manufacturers, our process ensures clarity and faithful reproduction of the original artwork you supply. Custom tile murals from Tile Artisans are as beautiful forever as the day they are installed, whether indoors or outdoors.

Public Tile ArtReligious artwork on tile

Ceramic tile murals can be installed in all sorts of public spaces. One of the most common is municipal pool murals. They can be installed in the pool itself, on the walls around the pool, and in the changing rooms.

Floor tile murals are a superb design feature in public spaces. Imagine the impact of a gorgeous tile floor with the hotel name or brand logo incorporated that will last without damage no matter how many people walk across it every day. The same goes for a shopping mall, or the entrance to a public library. With our murals on tile, maintenance and upkeep is minimal, so the return on investment in the original installation is less to worry about than other options.

In fact, there is no need to limit your ideas to floor tile murals. Large wall murals are as equally eye-catching and beautiful, and all the advantages already discussed apply. Whether for decorative purposes or for something like a commemorative installation, our outdoor tile murals are ideal. You simply provide the artwork! And let us consider the church for a moment. New churches are not built every day, but when they are, or old ones are refurbished, they can be enhanced using religious tile murals.

Corporate Tile Artcustom tile murals

There are many ways to display your company or brand logo and while it can’t be called unique, using images on tile is certainly not the norm. Whether you want a logo or name or related imagery or text in your lobby/reception or outside your headquarters building, with our custom tile murals, there are so very, many options.

Residential Tile Art

As custom tile manufacturers, we like to think no residential installation is beyond us. Whatever the style of your home, a specialty tile installation will fit and work with your architecture and décor because you have complete control over the images. There’s no limit, except your imagination. Practically any image can be transferred to tile, the reproduction process is faithful, and installation is made as easy as possible thanks to our column/row numbering system. Think about tile art on your conservatory floor, your bathroom wall, in the shower cubicle, your entrance hall or porch, your outside entertaining space, as the splash-back in your kitchen, or in/around your private pool. Another way to bring tile art into your home is with Talavera tiles.

Let’s focus specifically on Talavera tile art for a moment. You may not know what a Talavera tile is specifically by name, but you will certainly have seen them. If you have visited a Mexican restaurant you will have most definitely seen the beautiful tiles that are an essential element of the décor. These are Talavera tiles. Although today the term is used for Mexican-inspired tiles, the original, true Talavera tiles were handcrafted from the volcanic black and white soils around the town of Pueblo in Mexico and were influenced by the Spanish conquerors who arrived from the town of Talavera in Spain, a town know for its ceramics. Talavera tiles are used extensively in Mexican homes and public buildings, inside and out, and of course, have been brought to the USA by Mexican immigrants. The

We can produce the look of gorgeous Talavera tiles in any pattern or design for use in kitchens, on stair risers for a distinctive look, for restaurants – essentially, anywhere a Talavera tile installation can be used. A Talavera tile installation is a beautiful piece of artwork on tile in all senses.
